MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's volleyball team silenced Illinois Institute of Technology in four sets Saturday afternoon, led by Carter Shavitz and Seth Thomas with double-digit kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The early momentum found itself on the road team's side as Illinois Tech (6-12, 2-3 NACC) held a strong advantage, 17-12, midway through the first set. MSOE (7-7, 3-2 NACC) flipped things around going on an 8-1 run, including the duo of Tommy Clausz and Callan Harris stuffing the Scarlet Hawks at the net three times as that propelled the momentum to a 26-24 set one win.
• The Scarlet Hawks regained that momentum in the second set to tie things up 25-22. The two went on to battle yet again in set three, with the Raiders holding the advantage throughout as Thomas took the kill on the first point. Eric Mueller came off the bench to start set three and killed the final two points from Parker Rings to give the Raiders a 25-23 set three victory.
• After the two went back and forth to begin the fourth set, the Raiders looked to run away with a 6-1 run, eventually taking a 20-12 lead as the Scarlet Hawks began to let the rowdy crowd get to them. A late charge while on set point from the Scarlet Hawks hoped to kill the momentum, but Clausz made the easy kill to seal it 25-18.
