MANHEIM, PA - The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-America awards for Individual and Team recipients. This year, total of 418 wrestlers from 100 institutions achieved the status of Scholar All-American.
MSOE earned the Team Scholar All-America Top 30 distinction, placing 11
th among all Division III institutions with a cumulative team GPA of 3.651. MSOE was the lone CCIW (College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) institution to earn the honor.
Junior
Michael Smith and Freshman
Alex Morales each earned individual Scholar All-American recognition. In order to be recognized as an individual, a wrestler must meet the following criteria:
WRESTLING – Must accomplish at least 1 of the 3
1. Place top 3 in the regional tournament and win at least 50% of matches
2. Place in top 8 in the regional tournament and win at least 50% of matches and participate in at least 50% of your team's scheduled competitions
3. Win at least 67% of matches and participate in at least 50% of your team's scheduled competitions.
ACADEMICS – Must accomplish at 1 of 2
1. Must have an average GPA of 3.2 over the last 2 terms (semesters or trimesters) or 3 terms (quarters)
2. Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2
The Raiders finished with a team record of 5-5 this season, placing 5
th at the CCIW Championship. Smith finished the season with a 5
th place finish at the NCAA Upper Midwest Regionals while Morales finished 8
th.
