HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (6-7, 2-3 NACC) and Eagles (5-8, 4-1 NACC) played a physical first half, as Benedictine committed five penalties in the first two frames. After trailing 1-0, Dawson Smith scored the first Raider goal of the game to even things up, as goalkeeper Thomas Miles recorded eight saves in the first half, including an impressive kick save to keep the game knotted up. After a Benedictine goal at the 12:40 mark of the second quarter, MSOE went into the halftime break trailing 2-1, being out-shot by the Eagles 18-12 through 30 minutes of play.
- Despite the physical play and penalties, the Raiders were unable to convert on any of their man-up opportunities against Benedictine. The Eagles would go on to score five unanswered goals to open the third, as they out-shot the Raiders 23-13 in the second half. Jake Tralongo got the Raiders back on the board in the final seconds of the third, thanks to a sweet short-handed feed from Ethan Haselwood.
