Springer & Shaw Lower Records; Rodman Champion at Augustana Qualifier

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – In the final meet of the regular season, AJ Springer and Adam Shaw improved upon their school record times while Kaitlyn Rodman had the lone event win for the women for the MSOE track & field teams in the Quad Cities.

MEN'S TEAM RECAP
  • Springer lowered his school record time in the 800-meter run winning the open division. The conference champion in the event two weeks ago, finished in a time of 1:53.05, over half a second ahead of second place. Shaw lowered his school record in the 1,500-meter run on Friday night in the invite section, running 3:50.47 to finish in 12th place.
  • Evan Ploeckelman came out of the prelims with the second-best time in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.61 seconds to finish ninth overall in the final. In the field events, Logan Marks and Thomas Kiefer each vaulted 4.30 meters in the pole vault to finish in fifth and sixth, respectively.
WOMEN'S TEAM RECAP  
  • Rodman took the photo finish in the 5,000-meter run, winning the event in a time of 17:57.36, just a half a second ahead of second place. MacKenzie Bollis in her final time on the track ran a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.51 to finish in 18th.
  • In the field events, Jessa Alderman finished in ninth overall in the invite division of the shot put with a toss of 12.98 meters while Jordan Monroe was the top Raider in the open division, finishing in 12th with a toss of 12.49 meters. Kylie Crum and Ava Larson both added top 20 finishes in the hammer throw to go 16th (47.28 meters) and 19th (46.45 meters), respectively. The tandem of Gillian Spuhler and Gillian McDaniel found themselves in the top 15 in the triple jump, finishing 11th (10.66 meters) and 13th (10.43 meters), respectively.
WHAT'S NEXT
The official list of qualifiers for the next week's outdoor national championships will be released tomorrow, May 17th. The meet will begin on Thursday, May 23rd in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and will run through Saturday.
