MONMOUTH, Ill. – After coming out of the gates firing, the MSOE women's volleyball team drop their final two matches of the Monmouth Invitational Saturday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- vs. Westminster
- After a 4-3 start that saw errors from both sides, Emma Schattschneider recorded the first kill of the match to tie it at four before a 6-0 run from MSOE (3-8, 0-0 NACC) put them ahead 9-6. Schattschneider continued to dominate at the net as the Raiders went on a 9-1 run just a few points later as the Raiders doubled the Westminster (3-10, 0-0 SLIAC) point total 18-9 as they cruised to a set one victory 25-17.
- The Blue Jays flipped things around in the second set, coming out with a 10-5 advantage before the Raiders eventually tied things up at 12 after a 4-0 run that included a sevice ace from Brooke Fledderman. Each side continued to battle until the Blue Jays rallied late to take the set 25-21.
- The Raiders continued to tie things up in the third set, thanks to a service ace from Oliva Bartels and Schattschneider, but the Blue Jays pulled away from there to win the third set 25-20. The fourth set was where the Raiders were no match as after the Blue Jays took the early advantage never let up, finishing the match with a 25-16 set win.
- Schattschneider recorded a season high 20 kills, hitting .371 for the match. Knutson added six kills, followed by Ava Larson and Ashley Murphy with five. Joelle Harrington assisted on 21 of the Raiders kills, followed by Brooke Fledderman with 10.
- vs. Monmouth
- Monmouth (5-4, 0-0 MWC) attacked the Raiders early with a 10-6 advantage before completely running away after 10-1 run eventually winning the first set 25-10. The Scots took the same approach in the second set after a 11-7 lead quickly turned into a 24-9 lead, winning the set 25-12.
- The Raiders finally found a way to take the lead early after a service ace from Fledderman and a kill from Schattschneider for a 4-2 lead. After having a 9-5 lead, the Scots went on a run their own for a 12-9 lead. The Raiders later in the set brought their deficit to 22-19 after a pair of bad sets from the Scots, but still couldn't find a way to steal the set, falling 25-20.
- Schattschneider came away with just eight kills but recorded 11 digs. Fledderman added 19 assists for the Raiders offense, while Larson added the lone block of the match.
WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders travel to Beloit College on Tuesday, September 17
th for the team first solo match of the season. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
