BELOIT, Wis. – The MSOE women's volleyball team took on their first single match of the season Tuesday as they made the trip down to take on Beloit College. After pulling away late in the first two sets, the Raiders fended off the Buccaneers in the final set to take the sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A quick start for the home squad flipped instantly as MSOE (4-8, 0-0 NACC) ramped up a 6-0 run to begin. The run was answered by Beloit (1-5, 0-0 MWC) and the sides battled through the midway point of the set. Ava Larson helped spark a 5-0 run to put the Raiders ahead 18-12 that allowed them to never look back in the set as a service error from the Buccaneers end it 25-18.
- Two early service aces from Emma Schattschneider put the Raiders ahead 4-3 as they held the short advantage throughout the second set. The Raiders began to pull away slowly as Brenna Fledderman add back-to-back kills late to help seal the set for the Raiders 25-17.
- The duo of Hannah Gilbert and Abby Balkema kicked off the third set with two kills each. The Buccaneers began their fight to get back into the match, taking a 13-10 advantage midway through. Back-to-back kills from Ashley Murphy sparked a 6-0 run to put the Raiders back ahead. After another run from the Buccaneers see-sawed them back into the lead, the Raiders continued to chip away, capping off the match with a block from Fledderman and Joelle Harrington to end it, winning the set 25-23.
