MILWAUKEE. – The MSOE women's soccer team hosted their first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) matchup of the season on Saturday afternoon, as the Raiders started off their run of conference opponents with a win over the Edgewood College Eagles.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 2
Edgewood Eagles – 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (5-3-0, 1-0-0 NACC) would strike first against the Eagles (5-2-1, 0-2-0 NACC), as Claire Bradford scored her sixth goal of the season. Grace Quinn would nab the assist after driving deep into the Eagles defense and setting up Bradford with a perfect cross to put MSOE up 1-0.
- The Raiders would allow the Eagles to get on the board at the 30:21 mark of the first half, tying the game up at 1-1, as the first 45 minutes drew to a close with MSOE outshooting Edgewood 8-to-2. The Red and White would look to maintain their historic dominance of the Eagles in the second half, as MSOE has not fallen to Edgewood in women's soccer since November 6th, 2013.
- Team Captain Addison Spilman would break the tie just short of the 61-minute mark as she tapped a goal in from just a few yards away, courtesy of a sweet feed from Maggie Thillman, as the Raiders would maintain their decade long unbeaten streak against the Eagles. Alexis Jamiola would make the play of the game for the Red and White coming down the stretch, as the freshman made a timely save to prevent the Eagles from tying the game up once more.
