Shaver's Goal Paves Way for Raiders Win Over Whitewater

MILWAUKEE – MSOE women's soccer welcomed the Warhawks of UW-Whitewater to Viets Field on Wednesday night for the first home game of the 2024 season.  The Raiders would emerge victorious after a gritty 1-0 battle to improve their record to 3-0.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
Whitewater Warhawks – 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (3-0) and UW-Whitewater (0-2) held each other to limited chances on the offensive end, but the Raiders would only need one, as Samantha Shaver converted on the first MSOE shot of the game at the 14:27 mark to put the Raiders up 1-0.
  • Goalkeeper Page Sanchez recorded six saves on the way to a shutout, as the Raiders stifling forecheck led by Elizabeth Kuhn and Maggie Thillman would frustrate the Warhawks all evening, holding them to only three shots in the final 45 minutes.
  • Reigning NACC Student-Athlete of the Week Claire Bradford continued to add to her point total, registering an assist on Shaver's goal.  Bradford has recorded a point in each game to start the season.
