Men's Basketball Moves Conference Streak to Three; Defeat Eagles at Home

MILWAUKEE – A second-straight 20-point performance from Mason Dopirak helped lead the MSOE men's basketball team to their third straight conference win Saturday afternoon as they defeated Edgewood College.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 90

Edgewood - 79

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (9-5, 5-2 NACC) answered first after the opening tip when Carson Cordelli drove into the paint as each side took cracks at holding the lead throughout the first half. Both teams were hot from behind the arch in the first as a combined 15 three-pointers were nailed as the Raiders lead grew as large as seven when Isaac Wit fed Joey Jendusa inside midway through. Edgewood (4-11, 3-5 NACC) went on a run from there to lead as large as eight with six and half minutes left in the half before Chase Cummings nailed one of the Raiders six triples with three minutes remaining. Dopirak nailed two free-throws before feeding Anay Amoah in the paint to give the Raiders a four-point lead heading into the break, 47-43.
  • Coming out of the break, the Raiders didn't look to turn away from the momentum they had to finish off the first half, as Amoah went flying on back-to-back possessions to slam it down to go up 64-50 forcing an Eagles timeout. That settled down the Eagles as the Raiders lead was cut to four midway through making it a game all of the sudden. The Raiders took a timeout of their own to regroup and what started after a technical foul was called, went on a 12-0 run capped after Dopirak drove into the paint had their largest lead of the day 78-62. It was smooth sailing from there, as the Raiders were perfect from the charity stripe to seal their third-straight conference win.
