EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Freshman Eddie Shepler put together a hat trick performance Friday night as the MSOE men's hockey team scored a season high six goals to sweep the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Shepler's night started after Carson Jones won the faceoff and Seth Bernard set it right over him on the right side for him to fire it quickly to the back of the net as it just three minutes into the game, MSOE (7-7-1, 2-4-0 NCHA) had a 1-0 lead. Minutes later it grew as Bernard flew down the left side before sending it back to the middle for Shepler to put it home. Late in the period, Eau Claire (5-8-1, 4-2-0 WIAC) got on the board to cut it to one at the first break.
• Five minutes into the second, the Blugolds knotted up the score, but was their final chance at putting a stop to the night the Red & White offense would have. Midway through, Shepler found the rebound from a shot from Gramm McCormack on the left side and went high to put it in the finish his hat trick and make it a 3-2 game. The Blugolds hoping to even things again on a powerplay, Jones had other plans as he stole it in his defense end and took it coast-to-coast to cushion things 4-2 at the second break.
• The Raiders wasted no time to add to the lead when the third period again, as Casey Roepke sent one in from the point that was redirected in just 30 seconds after the period began to go up 5-2. The Raiders added one more to their tally, as McCormack found the rebound from a Preston Park shot, for a season high sixth goal of the night. The Blugolds add one more to their total not far after but silenced the rest of the way.
