ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. – The MSOE men's hockey team closed the gap late in the third period over Bethel University but fell short in a outdoor game in the Twin Cities.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Things were dead even in the opening period as Bethel (5-5-0, 2-2-0 MIAC) led the shot totals 9-6 while MSOE (6-5-1, 4-3-1 NCHA) had the slight edge on the faceoffs 8-7. The Raiders ended the first period going on the powerplay but couldn't produce a single shot as they went into the first break locked scoreless.
- Things continued to be even to open the second period until 8:26 to play when the Royals went coast-to-coast for the opening goal of the game immediately after a penalty kill. The Raiders could only muster up two shots for the remainder of the period as they stayed behind 1-0 at the second break.
- The Raiders continued to try and cut the deficit as they fired off nine shots in the first ten minutes of the third period, including three during a powerplay. The Royals went on their first powerplay of the day and struck with 6:19 to play to add to their lead. With under four and a half to play, Casey Roepke fired a shot wide off the board for Cole Beilke to fire it right back to Jackson Hughes to send it to bring it right back to a one goal game. As the Raiders emptied the net, the Royals sealed the game with 1:26 to play.
