Men's Hockey Defeats Royals on Three Goal Run

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. – The MSOE men's hockey team closed out their weekend over Bethel University with a 4-2 win Saturday afternoon.

FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 4

Bethel - 2

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The offenses continued to try and create something as Bethel (5-6-0, 2-2-0 MIAC) had a 13-12 edge over MSOE (7-5-1, 4-3-1 NCHA) on the shot total. The Royals were able to make the first strike as they scored with 4:29 remaining in the first, but it didn't last long as 15 seconds later Brennan Dickey received a pass up from Jackson Yee to send in and tie the game at one, which held at the first break.
  • Things started to get chippy as six of the eight total powerplays in the game happened in the second period, including one under two and a half minutes to play that gave the Raiders the man advantage. With 1:21 on the clock, Rylan Jockims drove towards the Royals goaltender, passing off to Cole Beilke to send back to Sam Lyons for an easy strike as the Raiders took a 2-1 lead at the second intermission.
  • The Raiders pulled away to open the third, first starting just under four minutes in as Charles Fink found the puck after it played behind the net for an easy wrister to make it 3-1. A minute later Jockims fed one off to the right at Jack Karges at the blue line that he sent towards the goaltender that trickled right past, making it 4-1 all the sudden. The Royals cut down their deficit at the midway point with a powerplay goal, but things were settled from there as Austin Schwab stayed stout between the pipes to hold them off.
