MILWAUKEE – In the Raiders return to the ice for the first time since December 13
th, the MSOE men's hockey team fell short in a defensive battle with University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, a team receiving votes in the latest national poll.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Eau Claire (9-4-1, 6-1-0 WIAC) had the early edge in shots for the first period, leading MSOE (7-6-1, 4-3-1 NCHA) 9-7. The Blugolds also had two power-play opportunities in the first period but were shut down by Austin Schwab between the pipes as the two went into the first intermission scoreless.
- The Raiders were able to draw more penalties in the second period, going on four powerplays, while Adam Smith and Carson Jones were able to lead the team with two shots. The Blugolds were able to halt those opportunities, having another scoreless period.
- Rylan Jockims led the team in the third period in shots, having three, as the Raiders looked to make the first strike, outshooting the Blugolds 13-7. The Blugolds were able to put pressure on late in the period, but Eddie Shepler was able to block back-to-back shots while another sailed wide in the final ten seconds to force overtime.
- The Raiders immediately tried to put the game away, getting the first shot off in the extra five minutes with Seth Bernard flying down the ice but was stopped in the corner. The Blugolds controlled the puck for the remainder of the period, including hitting the game winner with 39 seconds to remaining.
