Women's Basketball Storms Back to Beat Big Blue

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The MSOE women's basketball team kicked off their trip to Puerto Rico with the opening round of the Puerto Rico Clasico, as Lana Kerley dropped a season-high 26 points in the Raiders 53-48 win over Millikin University.

FINAL SCORE

Millikin University Big Blue – 48
MSOE RAIDERS - 53

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (7-1, 2-0 NACC) trailed Millikin (5-6, 1-2 CCIW) after the Big Blue built up a seven-point lead by the midway point of the first quarter.  The Raiders would chip away at their deficit in the second quarter, as a three-point shot from Lana Kerley brought the Red and White back within a possession.  The Raiders would keep the game within one possession coming down the stretch of the first half but were unable to secure the lead, as the Red and White went to halftime trailing 25-22.
  • Coming out of the break, the Big Blue would shoot over 50% across the third quarter, with the Raiders falling behind by eight points at the end of the frame.  With ten minutes left to play, MSOE began to chip away at the lead on a fastbreak chance from Halena Hill and a driving layup from Emily Troia.  Another three-pointer from Kerley put the Raiders within one possession once again, and a jumper from Hill would knot the game up at 46-46 with 2:36 left to play.  A layup from Shelby Glodowski gave MSOE their first lead of the game with 1:44 left on the clock, before another Kerley three gave MSOE a two possession lead with less than a minute to play, as the Raiders completed the comeback to secure their seventh straight win.
