Men's Basketball Ups Home Win Streak to Five Games

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's basketball team increased their home winning streak to five games on Saturday afternoon, as the Red and White walloped the Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech, shooting 50% from deep in the second half.

FINAL SCORE

MSOE RAIDERS – 93

Illinois Tech - 62

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Scarlet Hawks (3-16, 2-10 NACC) got on the scoreboard first as they took a 4-0 to start the game, but MSOE (13-6, 9-3 NACC) would quickly turn things in their favor on back-to-back threes from Mason Dopirak and CJ Valente.  The Red and White would take a 6-4 lead, and never relinquish it as the Raiders offense was high-octane all afternoon long.  Dopirak would eclipse double-digit scoring by the 13:46 mark of the first half, scoring ten of the teams first seventeen points.  MSOE racked up 23 assists against Illinois Tech as the offense entered a flow state, building their lead to as much as 26 points in the first twenty minutes of play as the Red and White shot 50% from the field in the first half.
  • The Scarlet Hawks would push the pace in the second half as they tried to claw their way back into the contest.  Illinois Tech would cut the Raider lead to 16 points at the midway point of the second half, but Ethan Johnson's play in the paint combined with the dialed-in shooting from Donovan Carter helped the Raiders secure a 31-point margin of victory.  Four Raiders finished with double-digit scoring figures, and twelve different Raiders scored in the complete team victory.
