NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The MSOE men's volleyball team headed back on the road Thursday evening for a matchup against #19 North Central College, falling in three sets.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 0
#19 North Central - 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set was a stalemate until a run of errors from North Central (6-3, 0-0 CCIW) allowed MSOE (1-5, 0-0 NACC) to take a 14-12 lead after Matthew Schultz and Callan Harris shared a block at the net. The Cardinals didn't sweat and took advantage of a .296 hitting percentage in the set to take the advantage at the 16-point mark and didn't look back to take it 25-22.
- The Raider offense couldn't find their rhythm in the second set, having a .000 hitting percentage and showed as they found themselves down 16-9 midway through. A run after Tommy Clausz nailed a kill put them to within two, but that only fueled the Cardinal offense as they began to connect on everything to easily take the set 25-17.
- The Cardinals kept that momentum going as they jumped out to a 9-4 lead to begin the third set. Miscues from the home squad helped get the Raiders to within one after a block from Clausz and Parker Rings, but the Cardinals started to roll from there to seal it 25-20.
