LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The MSOE men's hockey team clinched their berth into the Harris Cup Playoffs Friday evening as they shutout Lake Forest College on the road.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
Lake Forest - 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lake Forest (9-14-1, 5-11-1 NCHA) played things cleanly in the first, committing zero penalties and found themselves on the power-play twice. Outshooting MSOE (11-9-4) 12-7, nothing would come of it as the two headed into the first break with zeros on the scoreboard.
- Heading into the second, the Raiders upped the offense and tallied off 14 shots to get a spark going. Late in the period when the Raiders were tasked with another penalty kill, Casey Roepke took things coast to coast off a faceoff to send it to the back of the net to quiet the home crowd and take a 1-0 lead into the second break.
- Both defenses became stout in the third period as Austin Schwab in net continued his hot night, racking up 23 saves on the evening. Each side only getting seven shots off, the Foresters continued to be able to answer the momentum the Raiders created in the previous period as they seal both the game and tournament berth.
