Men's Hockey Celebrates Senior Night with Win Over LFC

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The MSOE men's hockey team celebrated Senior Night in style as the Raiders walloped the Foresters of Lake Forest College by a final score of 7-2 in their regular season finale.

FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 7

Lake Forest - 2

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lake Forest (9-15-1, 5-12-1 NCHA) needed a win to keep their playoff hopes alive against MSOE (12-9-4, 7-8-3 NCHA) as the Foresters scored just two minutes into the contest, attempting to extend their season.  Brennan Dickey would knot the game up for the Red and White five minutes into the period, before LFC regained the lead at the 8:01 mark.  On the powerplay Adam Smith would find Gramm McCormack for the equalizer, followed up by a goal from Jack Karges to give the Raiders their first lead of the day as they went into the first intermission ahead 3-2.
  • The Raiders penalty kill came up huge in the second period, stopping the Lake Forest powerplay all three times they hit the ice.  Charlie Skinner would have a senior night to remember, adding the fourth MSOE goal of the game, thanks to an assist from fellow senior Preston ParkSam Lyons would up the Raider lead to 5-2 as the second period came to a close, with each team registering 25 shots through 40 minutes of play.
  • With the Foresters season on the line, the intensity began to ramp up and so did the penalties, with each team committing three penalties in the final frame.  Carson Jones would pad the Raiders lead at the 4:21 mark of the third period, pushing the Red and White ahead 6-2.  After a late major penalty against Lake Forest, Jackson Hughes made sure the Raiders had the last word, finding the back of the net with under ten seconds left as the Raiders capped off the Senior Night festivities with a 7-2 victory.
