ADRIAN, Mich. – After an intense regular season series between the two, the No. 5 seed MSOE men's hockey team traveled to No. 4 seed Adrian College for the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Harris Cup Quarterfinals. After the Raiders struck quickly, the Bulldogs put together consecutive quick goals to take game one of the best-of-two series.
FINAL SCORE
No. 5 MSOE RAIDERS – 2
No. 4 Adrian - 4
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wasting no time, MSOE (12-10-4, 7-8-3 NCHA) struck 28 seconds in when Austin Schwab sent the puck down the boards to Ethan Mann at the offensive blue line to feed Seth Bernard for the first goal of the game. Late in the period, Adrian (17-8-1, 10-7-1 NCHA) was able to tie things up and then took the 2-1 lead early in the second.
- As things were coming down to the wire in the third, the Raiders found themselves on a much need powerplay. After the puck trickled its way out of a scrum in the net, Adam Smith fired one top shelf to stick it past the Bulldogs' goalie to tie it up at two with nearly seven minutes to play. Hoping to send things to overtime, the Bulldogs struck twice in a 1:21 span to sit comfortably and take game one.
