MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's volleyball couldn't overcome a slow start against #5 Carthage College as they drop straight sets to close out their homestand Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After MSOE (1-8, 0-0 NACC) took the first two points, Carthage (10-2, 0-0 CCIW) set the tone with a 6-0 run before making their lead as large as seven by taking a 14-7 lead midway through. Seth Thomas led the charge in the first set with four kills to try and keep the Raiders in it but was overpowered by a .440 hitting percentage from the Firebirds as they ran away with it, 25-15.
- The Raiders found a rhythm offensively in the second set as Callan Harris made back-to-back kills in the middle of a 4-0 run to give the Red & White a 10-8 early on. Things began to bounce back and forth before the Firebirds ended the set on a 4-1 run to steal the second set 25-23. The Raiders' offense really intensified early in the third as Tommy Clausz strung together three kills to give them a 7-2 lead early. A 7-1 run that started by a kill from Thomas gave the Raiders what looked to be a healthy lead, going up 18-10, but was quickly erased by the Firebirds as they finished things past the 25-point mark, taking it 28-26.
