HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both sides battled each other to begin the match before MSOE (13-10, 10-2 NACC) legged out a 4-0 with a pair of kills from Tommy Clausz to take a 10-5 lead. Concordia Chicago (12-15, 6-6 NACC) brought it back to a two-point game late making it 20-18 but after a service error later on, Matthew Schultz teamed up with Gregory Kubon for a block and then added the finishing touch with a kill to take the first set 25-20.
  • The Cougars took the first point of the second set, but the Raiders took the next four with kills from Clausz and Antonio Llona Baez. The Cougars took the next four after to retake the lead before later going on a 6-0 run to lead 17-14. The Raiders tied things up after the Cougars had set point with Clausz and Callan Harris teaming for a block, but the Cougars continued to fend them off to tie up the match with a 27-25 set two win.
  • The momentum didn't declare a side until midway through the third set when three straight errors from the Cougars followed by an ace from Kubon gave the Raiders a 16-13 lead. A run from the Cougars immediately tied it back up at 16 but kills from Llona Baez and Clausz helped get the lead to 19-16. After the two teams went back and forth to the 25-point mark, the Raiders took the set after a kill from Schultz and a miscue from the Cougars to win 27-25.

A 7-1 run from the Raiders tied up the set at 17 to get the Kern Center rocking before they took a 23-21 lead with Schultz getting a kill and ace and Harris adding a kill.
