RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The MSOE women's soccer team clashed with the Cougars of Concordia University Chicago on Sunday afternoon, with the Raiders emerging victorious as they build momentum heading into the thick of conference play.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 2
Concordia University Chicago Cougars – 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (3-4-1, 2-0-0 NACC) would begin the game on the attack, with Claire Bradford recording a shot on goal less than a minute into the contest. Elizabeth Kuhn would put three straight shots on goal for the Red and White across a twelve-minute span in the first half, but it would be Hadleigh Ostrenga that put the Raiders on the board. The sophomore from Wauwautosa, Wisconsin scored an impressive goal from way outside the box, perfectly placed in the top right corner of the Cougar's goal, just over the head of the CUC goalkeeper. The Raiders allowed just four shots from Concordia in the first half, holding the 1-0 lead heading into the break.
- Coming out of halftime, the Red and White maintained their control of the ball, but were unable to find the back of the net, as Bradford, Kuhn and Faith Papazoglou all saw shots go wide of the net. With just over fifteen minutes to play, Kuhn would drive left, putting up a crossing pass into the box, misplayed by the Cougars for an own goal to put MSOE up 2-0. The Raider defense was just as solid in the second half as it was in the first, as the Cougars didn't muster a single shot after the second goal, as the Raiders are off to a hot start in conference play with another shutout win.
