CHICAGO – Opening up their indoor season, the MSOE men's track & field team headed down to the Windy City for the Phoenix Invitational, hosted by University of Chicago.
Daniel Geerts led the Raiders to a second-place team finish, snagging an event win and a nationally ranked mark to open.

- Geerts led the day with the lone event win, taking the 60-meter hurdles in 8.44 seconds. His prelims time of 8.40 seconds currently ranks him 29th nationally to open the season. Sam Sorenson finished in second behind him, clocking a time of 8.58 seconds, with his best time coming in the prelims in 8.47 seconds.
- Lucas Skupien also had a runner-up finish on the track, finishing second in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 9:24.78. Nana Adubofour finished in third in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 22.94 seconds. The relay group of Jack Schwartz, Chase Nogalski, Aiden Guida, and Nathaniel Asiedu-Mensah finished second for the 4x400-meter relay in 3:38.53.
- Over in the field events, Camden Nennig led the jumps, finishing second with a leap of 6.18 meters in the long jump. Elijah Villa added two top-three finishes, first in the shot put where he finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 15.85 meters, along with a mark of 14.00 meters in the shot put where he finished third. William Tate also finished in the top three of the weight throw, making a throw of 14.15 meters. Thomas Kiefer and Korvan Nameni tied for the third in the pole vault, surpassing 4.25 meters, while Geerts added a third-place finish in the high jump in 1.85 meters.

The Raiders will be idle next weekend before heading to Wisconsin-Whitewater for the Karl Schlender Invitational on Saturday, January 24
th. Field events are set to begin at 11:00 a.m. with running events to follow at 1:00 p.m.
