ELMHURST, Ill. – The MSOE men's wrestling team took 2^nd at the Al Hanke Invite on Saturday, with sophomores Jackson Hughes and Toren Vandenbush advancing to the championship bouts.  Vandenbush would be crowned champion for the second straight season, this time at 174, after posting a perfect 5-0 record in Elmhurst.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Sophomores Jackson Hughes and Toren Vandenbush paved the way for the Red and White in Elmhurst, as each advanced to the championship bouts at their respective weight class.  Hughes would post a 3-0 record on the way to the first-place match at 184, recording two wins via pinfall and one via decision before falling in a hard-fought 7-4 decision as he placed second.  Vandenbush would post a perfect 5-0 record, posting four pinfall victories, all in under two minutes, on the way to the championship match.  Vandenbush would score a 12-5 decision win in the final bout at 174, being crowned champion for the second straight season after taking 165 last year as a freshman.
• Fellow Sophomore Alex Morales posted a 3-1 record and a third-place finish at 149, as he scored a major decision and pinfall win on the way to the third-place match, emerging victorious in his final match in Elmhurst with a 4-1 decision win.
• Seniors Gavin Graham and Jake Schmitt would each secure fourth place finishes for the Red and White, posting matching 2-2 records across their four matches in the tournament.  Schmitt would score a major decision and a decision win at 285 before dropping two decisions by a combined three points.  Graham scored a pinfall win in his opening bout and followed it up with a 10-1 major decision, but the West Allis native would drop two narrow decisions on his way to fourth place at 197.
