Raiders Drop Wacky Weekend Series with #5 Green Knights

MILWAUKEE/DE PERE, Wis. – In a wacky weekend with both a reschedule and a suspended game that required a location and date change, the MSOE men's hockey team drop both games on the weekend series with #5 St. Norbert College.

FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 2
#5 St. Norbert – 5

MSOE RAIDERS – 0
#5 St. Norbert - 9

SATURDAY, JANUARY 24TH/SUNDAY JANUARY 25TH
  • Both offenses were playing at a high pace as St. Norbert (13-5-1, 9-2-1 NCHA) had the slight shot advantage 12-11. The Green Knights were able to capitalize twice, first at the 7:47 mark and then at the 10:17 to lead 2-0. The Green Knights were able to hold that advantage at the break, but the game would not see action as the leak became major, pushing the remainder of the game to today and the swap of venues.
  • MSOE (8-9-2, 5-4-2 NCHA) awoken the scoreboard first in De Pere as Eddie Shepler snagged the puck at the blue line to send to Charles Fink for a one on one to cut the deficit to one 4:05 in. The Green Knights were able to control the puck, leading the second period shots 12-4 as with under a minute left converted on a powerplay to bring their lead back up to two at the break.
  • Casey Roepke with a one-on-one 4:10 into the third got a clean shot off before grabbing his own rebound to send to the back of the net bring it back down to a one goal game. The Green Knights continued to control the puck, putting up another double-digit total and extending the lead four minutes later. The Green Knights would seal it with an empty netter with under a minute to play off a faceoff.
SUNDAY JANUARY 25TH
  • The Green Knights struck just 5:35 to get their scoring started and then once again with three minutes to go in the first for a 2-0 lead. Two quick ones in the middle of the second and then just before the second intermission really put the game away before they unload in the final period with four.
  • Riley Ott led the Raiders' offense having four shots while Rylan Jockims and Roepke each had three. Shepler had a game high 16 faceoffs wins, along with three blocked shots, while Ethan Thombs had eleven faceoff wins.
