MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The MSOE men's soccer team posted their fourth straight win on Saturday evening, as the Raiders shut out the Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech to celebrate Senior Day in style.
RESULT
Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks – 0
MSOE RAIDERS - 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (8-4-3, 7-1-2 NACC) and Scarlet Hawks (8-5-2, 5-3-2 NACC) each put up six shots in the first half, but neither defense was willing to give up an inch. MSOE would see an early scoring chance from Andrew Calderon, as well as a trio of shots from Joey Loduca coming down the stretch of the first half, but the Scarlet Hawks would prevent any goals from the Red and White as both teams remained scoreless at the break.
- After a slow start to the second half from both teams, the Raiders would end the drought and break through at the 64:07 mark, as Lachlan Ladd continued his hot streak courtesy of a slick pass from Juan Pablo Escobar, putting MSOE ahead 1-0. Just over six minutes later, Diego Gonzalo would find Ladd for his second goal of the game, and fourth in a row for the Raiders, putting the Red and White up 2-0 with just under 20 minutes left in the contest. From there, Chase Frea and the MSOE defense would hold the Scarlet Hawks to just one shot on goal, with Christian Dershem preserving the clean sheet for the Raiders, securing their sixth shutout win of the season.
