HOW IT HAPPENED
  • vs. Illinois Tech
    • The Illinois Tech (14-7, 5-2 NACC) offensive attack was humming to open the match as they hit .349 for the opening set. The Scarlet Hawks killed the first three points before MSOE (10-8, 4-2 NACC) got on the board with a kill from Ella Notheisen, having back-to-back aces two points later to take a 4-3 lead. The Raiders wouldn't grab the lead back until 15-14 when Natalie Martinez threw down her second straight ace and as the Raiders had set point following a kill from Emma Schattschneider, the Scarlet Hawks spoiled the set, closing on three straight to win 27-25.
    • The Raiders found a rhythm in set two as they lead as large as 11-4 early, making it 15-8 after a kill from Schattschneider at the technical timeout. The Scarlet Hawks made a push late, cut it to one on a handful of occasions, but the lead would not be relinquished as the Raiders tied up the match, winning the set 25-21.
    • The Scarlet Hawks couldn't get anything to land to open set three, having five straight attacking errors before landing their first kill. The Raiders held the lead until late the Scarlet Hawks overtook it to win 25-23. In set four, the Scarlet Hawks road early momentum to make small runs to hold off a late comeback to win 25-23.
    • Schattschneider led the Raiders offensively with 12 kills, followed by Sydney Emineth with ten and Faith Bosshardt with five. Martinez held things down on the back line, having 28 kills with five aces, Schattschneider added 15 digs and Notheisen had ten.
  • vs. Wheaton
    • The Raiders went back-and-forth against Wheaton (7-16, 1-3 CCIW) early before the Thunder stormed away on an 11-1 run, eventually taking it 25-13. Set two saw similarities to set two as Genevieve Robinson kept the Raiders in it having a pair of kills and a pair of aces. The Thunder just two closed on a 6-0 run to win 25-16. Set three had the Thunder use multiple large runs, including 5-0 to open and 6-0 late to close out the match 25-17.
    • Robinson led the Raiders with five kills and three aces, while Katie Moser made eleven assists and had two blocks at the net. Ava Fischer held things down on the backline having ten digs, while Madalynn Skwarek added six and Brenna Fledderman had four.
