MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The MSOE men's soccer team fed off the homecoming energy on Saturday afternoon, tallying an early goal as the Raiders would tie the Benedictine Eagles after a scoreless second half at Viets Field.
RESULT
Benedictine Eagles – 1
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (4-4-3, 3-1-2 NACC) used the buzz of Homecoming 2026 to their advantage, as Nico Picha recorded a goal just 5:35 into the game, as the senior followed up a rebound from Gunnar Peterson to give MSOE the early 1-0 lead over Benedictine (3-3-4, 2-0-3 NACC). Picha would put another shot on goal at the 17:29 mark of the first half, but was turned away by the Eagles goalkeeper. Benedictine would strike back with just over fifteen minutes to play in the first half, tying the game up at 1-1 after an unassisted effort. The Raiders would remained deadlocked with the Eagles heading into the halftime break, despite holding Benedictine to just one shot across the first 45 minutes.
- In the second half, the physicality would increase with the urgency to score the go-ahead goal, as the Raiders were assessed a yellow card less than ten minutes into the second half. The Raiders would be unphased by the card as their offensive output remained high, with Filip Aniecko, Nate Gendrich and Diego Gonzalo all nearly finding the back of the goal. Coming down the stretch, three yellow cards were assessed in the final eight minutes, as neither team was able to find any momentum, with the Raiders settling for a draw.
