MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The MSOE men's soccer team scored early and often on Wednesday night, as the Raiders posted a 5-0 shutout win over Wisconsin Lutheran at Viets Field.
RESULT
WLC Warriors – 0
MSOE RAIDERS – 5
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (5-4-3, 4-1-2 NACC) needed just 22 seconds to get ahead of the Warriors (2-8-1, 1-4-1 NACC) after a yellow card was assessed against WLC and Nico Picha converted the early penalty kick for a 1-0 MSOE lead from jump street. By the 14:43 mark, the Raiders would double their lead after a slick crossing pass from Steven Thomas found a sliding Owen Pacetti for a 2-0 lead for the Red and White. After a short scoring drought, Juan Pablo Escobar would net a beautiful goal on a free kick attempt, bending it like Beckham for a 3-0 MSOE leading going into the halftime break.
- In the second half, the Raiders would tally their fourth goal of the game after a flurry of corner kicks, with Emerson Rush finding Andrew Calderon for the successful conversion. Nate Gendrich would take advantage of a penalty against the Warriors, as he recorded the Raiders second penalty kick goal of the game to cap off a lopsided 5-0 win, as the Red and White held the Warriors without a shot on goal after 90 minutes of play.
