Men's Lacrosse Bounces Back in Overtime Win Over LFC

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's lacrosse team toppled the Lake Forest Foresters on Wednesday night, emerging victorious in a back-and-forth thriller in front of the Viets Field faithful.

RESULT
Lake Forest College – 11
MSOE RAIDERS – 12

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (6–3, 2-1 NACC) took the first lead of the game over Lake Forest (4-2, 0-1) after Dawson Smith fed Josh Scheibel to take a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the conference clash.  The Foresters would respond 60 seconds later to knot the game up before trading goals with the Red and White, as LFC held a 3-2 lead after the first quarter.  Isaac Johnston tied the game up in the opening seconds of the second quarter, as the freshman tallied his second of six goals to bring the score to 3-3.  After continuing to trade goals back-and-forth, Graden Jansen would go coast-to-coast for a goal off a faceoff, flipping the momentum in favor of MSOE as Paul Brueck and Smith combined for another Raider goal not even 30 seconds later.  The teams would remain deadlocked as they went to the break, as the programs were tied at 6-6 with each squad recording eighteen first-half shots.
  • After the Foresters closed the third quarter with a 9-8 lead over the Red and White, it took the Raiders less than a minute to respond in the fourth, as Cole Karst found Jack Civottolo to tie the game up at 9-9.  A Carter Stahl unassisted effort game the Raiders another lead before the Foresters took it back, with LFC going up 11-10 with 6:31 left in regulation.  With 5:23 on the clock, Johnston would tally his fifth goal of the contest, as the conference foes would head to overtime to find a victor.
  • In the extra period, LFC would control the ensuing faceoff, firing off a shot that drew the goalpost as the Raiders took over on the attack.  After two wide shots from Stahl and Will Malecha, it was Johnston who would tally the game winner, as the Stillwater, Minnesota native walked off the Foresters for the Raiders' second conference win of the season.
