MILWAUKEE – MSOE Men's Hockey continues to expand its footprint beyond the collegiate level, as a growing number of Raiders are earning opportunities to compete in professional hockey following their time in Milwaukee.
Following the conclusion of the Raiders' hockey season, several MSOE student-athletes made the jump to the professional ranks. Defenseman
Cole Beilke appeared in four games with the Peoria Rivermen (SPHL), contributing three assists. Forward
Seth Bernard is currently skating with the Evansville Thunderbolts (SPHL), where he has recorded one goal and one assist in eight games. Forward
Carson Jones is set to join his fellow Raiders and make his professional debut with Peoria on March 27, adding to the program's active presence at the next level.
Goaltender
Austin Schwab also earned an opportunity at a higher level, serving as an emergency backup goaltender for the American Hockey League's Milwaukee Admirals—the second MSOE goaltender to do so since
Nick Stofcheck served as the emergency backup goaltender for the Admirals in 2024.
These accomplishments continue a steady trend for the program. In 2023,
Matt Hanewall and
Kyle Herbster both spent time with the Iowa Heartlanders (ECHL), while
CJ Kline competed in the Federal Prospects Hockey League in 2024.
Head Coach
Brandon Richards emphasized both the significance of these opportunities and the broader success of the program's student-athletes. "We are very excited and proud of our graduating senior players to have the opportunity to play professional hockey," Richards said. "It is a great accomplishment for each player who gets an opportunity to represent MSOE at the professional level. We are excited to continuously have these opportunities for our players moving forward and wish our players nothing but success in their professional careers.
Richards also highlighted the program's commitment beyond the rink. "The MSOE Men's Hockey team is proud to have our graduating seniors get professional hockey opportunities and also have their careers lined up before graduating," he added.
As MSOE continues to develop its student-athletes, the program is establishing a consistent pathway to success both on and off the ice, reinforcing the well-rounded experience of Raider hockey.
