HOW IT HAPPENED
- Things were tightly contest early as the first multi-point lead didn't come until 8-6 when Callan Harris and Gregory Kubon teamed up for the block. A four-point run from Benedictine (16-11, 9-3 NACC) took the lead at the midway point 13-11 until later a service ace from Seth Thomas tied it at 15 before a Harris and Hunter Carroll block put MSOE (21-6, 12-0 NACC) in front. The Eagles stormed back to tie it at 23, which started a marathon with both sides trading rallies with Kubon finally finishing it with an ace to win 37-35.
- The Eagles pulled away early in both set two and set three to win 25-20 and 25-16 to lead two sets to one. In the fourth, a kill of a free ball from Kubon kickstarted them as they led as large as 13-7 at the midway point. Harris went on a run late to continue their advantage, throwing down the final kill to win 25-14 to force set five.
- Tightly contest to begin set five, the Eagles grabbed the lead at the flip 8-7, continuing to trade points to 11. From there, Carroll and Harris each put down a kill and then teamed up for a block to grab match point. After one more from the Eagles, a bad set from them seal the wn 15-12.
