MILWAUKEE/WAUWATOSA/PLATTEVILLE, Wis. –
Sam McPeak and
Korvan Nameni each set new school records as the MSOE men's track & field teams competed at a pair of meets over the weekend.
RECAP
- McPeak took down the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, winning the event in 9:18.63, now sitting 16th nationally in the event. AJ Springer was a double winner on the day, first in the 1,500-meter run in 3:55.97 and then in the 800-meter run in 1:54.07. Over in the hurdles, Sam Sorenson was the champion in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.88, while Jack Schwartz finished third in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.89.
- Nameni cleared 4.62 meters in the pole vault to both win the event and break the school record, breaking it by one and a half feet, now sitting 43rd nationally. Cameron O'Brien finished second in the event, going 4.52 meters. Daniel Franklin IV won the triple jump going 13.54 meters, with Camden Nennig finishing second in the long jump with 6.49 meters. In the throws, William Tate won the hammer throw, tossing 48.59 meters as Elijah Villa took third with 47.99 meters. Ethan Wrasman picked up a pair of third-place finishes, first in the javelin with 37.40 meters, and then in the shot put with 14.54 meters.
- Over in Platteville on Friday night, Nolan Pinion led the 5,000-meter crew going 15:11.53. Ryan Alyassir finished in 15:13.09 with Joseph Hillyer in 15:39.04.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Raiders will have their final tune-up before championship season, heading to La Crosse for the Phil Esten Challenge. Events kick off on Friday, April 17
th, with a bulk of the action coming on the following day.
