Men's Lax Vanquishes Vikings in Appleton

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's lacrosse team secured their fourth win in a row on Wednesday night, as the Raiders won a one-sided road battle against the Lawrence University Vikings after a dominant third quarter on the offensive end.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 20
Lawrence University – 8

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (11–4, 7-2 NACC) wasted no time as Dawson Smith tallied a goal just 52 seconds into the game to give the Red and White an early lead over Lawrence (6-8, 3-6 NACC).  Six different Raiders would tally a goal before the Vikings got on the board, with senior defender Branden Willenbring capping off the early scoring run from the Red and White.  After a goal from Lawrence brought the score to 6-1, Cole Karst would resume the Raiders scoring, with Case Roberts adding his second goal of the game shortly after. Lawrence would go on a late scoring run to close the first half, but the Red and White would hold the Vikings to just four first half goals, leading 8-4 at the break.
  • Coming out of halftime, the Raiders would make up for the late run from the Vikings, tallying the first five goals of the second half to put MSOE up 13-4 after Will Malecha kicked off the streak of Red and White goals, with Smith rounding it out.  MSOE would lead Lawrence 15-7 heading to the fourth quarter after a trio of Viking goals closed the frame.  From there it was all Red and White, with MSOE eclipsing the 20-goal mark for the third time this season after a score from reigning NACC Offensive Player of the Week Isaac Johnston to close out the 20-8 win.
