Lake Forest College – 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (0-1-0, 0-0-0 NACC) fell behind Foresters (1-0-0, 0-0-0 MWC) just 8:50 into the contest, but it didn't take long for the Raiders to respond as Hadleigh Ostrenga fed Claire Bradford with the senior recording the equalizer not even three minutes later. The Raiders would go back-and-forth with the opposition, as goalkeeper Teya Baxter was assessed a yellow card before posting an incredibly clutch save on the ensuing penalty kick to preserve the tie. The Foresters would however, manage to sneak another goal in before the break as the Red and White trailed 2-1 at the half.
- In the second half the Raiders deficit grew larger, as LFC recorded their third goal of the afternoon just two minutes into the second half for a 3-1 lead over MSOE. Both Bradford and Kit Gormley would manage to get shots off for the Red and White, but neither found goal as Lake Forest College came away with the win over the Raiders in the season premiere. The Raiders and Foresters finished tied with nine shots apiece after 90 minutes, with LFC holding MSOE to just two in the final 45.
