Women's Soccer Draws with UW-River Falls

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The MSOE women's soccer team clashed with UW-River Falls on Sunday afternoon, as the Raiders closed out their series of six road games to start the season with a 3-3 draw against the Falcons.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
UW-River Falls – 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Raiders (2-2-2, 0-0-0 NACC) and Falcons (2-1-1) remained scoreless through most of the first half, despite early scoring opportunities for both teams in the opening minutes of the match, with Claire Bradford getting the best look for the Red and White.  With five minutes left in the first half, Hadleigh Ostrenga would find Macie Herting, as the freshman added another goal to her weekend stat line to put MSOE up 1-0 at the break
  • In the second half, Bradford would have another chance after a yellow card was assessed against River Falls, but the Falcon goalkeeper made a critical stop.  River Falls would tie the game up mere moments later, before scoring their second goal in a four-minute span at the 57:59 mark of the contest.
  • With less than 20 minutes to play, the Raiders would respond with a game-tying goal from Alexis Jamiola, resetting the game with just over fifteen minutes on the clock.  The Falcons would regain the lead three minutes of gametime later, but the Raiders would not go quietly, as Alexis Lugonzo struck back for the Red and White, with her unassisted goal deadlocking the teams at 3-3.  Both teams would frantically search for a game-winning goal, but after an offsides against the Raiders and a yellow card on the Falcons, the clock would run out as both teams settled for a draw.
