Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Marian scored three second-period goals to break open a 1-0 game and hand the MSOE hockey team a 4-0 defeat Friday evening at the Blue Line Family Ice Arena.
The Raiders (0-5, 0-5 NCHA) and Sabres (2-4, 2-3 NCHA) will meet up again Saturday, playing at the Kern Center in the second half of the weekend home-and-home series. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
Ben Morgan got Marian on the board with a short-handed goal in the first period before the host Sabres put the game out of reach with three in the second period. Morgan added his second goal of the game at 5:06 of the period. He then assisted on a third MU goal at 8:51. Rjay Berra scored a power play goal at 16:05 to cap the scoring.
After a 23-12 shot advantage for the home team through the first two periods, the final frame was a defensive one with just eight combined shots. Marian outshot the Raiders 28-15 in the game. Sophomore Nick Kohn stopped 24 shots for MSOE, while Josh Baker posted a shutout for the Sabres with 15 stops.
