Box Score ASHLAND, Wis. – The MSOE hockey team held strong defensively for two periods, but conceded three third-period goals in falling to Northland 4-0 Friday evening at the Bay Area Civic Center.
The Raiders (0-9, 0-7 NCHA) and Lumberjacks (2-8, 2-5 NCHA) close out the weekend series Saturday at 3 p.m.
MSOE and Northland were scoreless through the first 35 minutes of the game before Cody Hasbargen opened the scoring at 15:29 of the second period. The Lumberjacks then added three goals in a span of 3:40 in the final minutes of the game to put the game out of reach.
Through the first two periods the Raiders held a 19-12 shot advantage, but were unable to break through for the tying goal. In the third period, the Jacks held off the Red and White before doubling their lead at 15:58 of the third period. NC added a third goal just 18 seconds later and made it 4-0 on a power play with just 22 seconds remaining.
Both teams took 24 shots in the game. Freshman Austin Campbell made his second-straight start in goal and made 20 saves. The Jacks' Mason Riley stopped 24 shots for the shutout.
Northland scored a goal late in the second period for a 1-0 lead, but did not break open the game until the final minutes of the game when it put in three goals.
