Box Score MILWAUKEE - The MSOE hockey team posted its first shutout of the season Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center, defeating Northland 3-0 and extending its winning streak to six games.
The Raiders (6-4, 4-4 NCHA) allowed just 13 shots in the game to complete the weekend sweep of the Lumberjacks (1-10-1, 1-7 NCHA).
MSOE had three different players find the back of the net, taking a 2-0 lead after the first period and tacking on another goal in the second. Freshman Clint Garris tallied his first career points with a goal and assist. Sophomore Gage Christianson added a goal and assist, while freshman Omar Mullan scored a goal to extend his point-scoring streak to nine games.
After falling behind 1-0 in Friday's contest, the Raiders made sure to get on track early in the series finale. They outshot the visitors 9-3 in the period and got on the scoreboard at 12:00 when Garris finished off assists from Christianson and freshman Zach Simpson.
Mullan doubled the team's lead just over five minutes later, netting his team-best ninth goal of the season. Garris set up the goal, which came in a four-on-four situation on the ice.
As the second period was winding down, Christianson capped the scoring with a near-breakaway. He lit the lamp with just seven seconds remaining in the frame.
For the game, MSOE held a 34-13 shot advantage and sophomore Austin Campbell made all 13 saves he was called on to make to get his second collegiate shutout.
The Raiders will look to keep their winning streak going on the road, heading to #14/12 UW-Eau Claire next Friday.
