APPLETON, Wis. – Freshman James Ring scored two goals to lead the MSOE hockey team to a 5-2 victory over Lawrence Friday evening at the Appleton Family Ice Center.

The Raiders (10-6, 5-4 NACC) downed the Vikings (5-10-1, 4-5 NACC) for their fourth-straight win and 10th in 12 games.

Sophomore Cody Ganchar continued his hot scoring streak, netting the opening goal 3:51 into the game. LU answered just under five minutes later, but freshman Conner Enciso re-established the Raider lead at 2-1 at the 17:13 mark of the period. It was his first collegiate goal.

In the second period, Ring scored the first of his goals, lighting the lamp while Lawrence had the man advantage just 43 seconds into the frame. It was MSOE's third short-handed goal of the season and proved to be the game-winner putting the team ahead 3-1.

The Vikings would pull a goal back late in the third period, making it 3-2 with just 2:14 remaining in regulation. Fortunately, the Raiders tacked on two more goals in the final minute to ice the victory.

The home team pulled its goalie with just over two minutes remaining and Ring took advantage of the empty net with 45 seconds to go in the game to make it 4-2 with his second score. The goalie returned to his crease and, 32 seconds later and just 13 seconds from the end, freshman Omar Mullan made it 5-2 with his team-leading 11th goal of the season.

The Raiders doubled up Lawrence in shots for the game, 42-21, allowing just two shots in the second period. Junior Nick Kohn made 19 saves on the night for his seventh win of the season.

The weekend series between MSOE and Lawrence wraps up Saturday at the Kern Center in Milwaukee. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
