Box Score MILWAUKEE – The 13th-ranked MSOE hockey team scored first, but could not hold off three unanswered goals from Concordia Wisconsin in a 3-2 loss Saturday evening at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
The Raiders (2-2, 2-2 NCHA) finished the weekend with a series split against the Falcons (2-2, 2-2 NCHA) after a 4-1 victory at home Friday.
Sophomore Conner Enciso continued his hot start to the season, scoring his fourth goal of the weekend at 4:14 of the opening period. The goal was his team-leading fifth of the season after a hat trick on Friday. He was assisted by junior Gage Christianson, his sixth helper of the season, and sophomore Omar Mullan.
Less than a minute later, MSOE was dealt a blow in the game as senior defenseman Nick LaRue was given a 10-minute game misconduct and major penalty for spearing.
Just over two and a half minutes into the ensuing power play, the Falcons leveled the score. Eli Riddle netted the score. They would then go on to add a pair of goals in the second period to pull away. Brandt Weldon lit the lamp for the eventual game-winner at 8:35 of the frame and Nick Erb added an insurance goal just over three minutes later.
The home team finished with a 36-24 shot advantage in the game, including 16-3 as the Raiders fought to get back in the game.
Senior Nick Kohn made 33 saves in the game, compared to 23 by his counterpart, CUW's Jack Romanuik.
MSOE returns to the ice Friday, hosting the opening game of a weekend series against Northland.
