Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. – It's hard to stop a slide if you can't get any traction. The MSOE defense was unable to stop the potent (RV) Marian attack on Saturday night, falling in both ends of the weekend two game series against their NCHA North foes.
RESULTS
MSOE – 4
(RV) Marian – 7
HOW IT HAPPENED
Penalties are costly and Saturday night's game proved it. MSOE (6-6-4, 1-6-4 NCHA) was called for six different two-minute minors, and while (RV) Marian (12-4-1, 8-4-0 NCHA) received one more on the night, they were definitely the more opportunistic of the two teams. The Sabres converted on four of their five power play chances, with one infraction for each team being a coincidental minor. The Raiders went a respectable .333 on their man up minutes, but it was too little in a game that they were playing catch up in the entire time. The Sabres scored two goals in the first period, one in the second, and five in the third (two of which were empty netters). The Red & White scored two in the second, which briefly tied the contest, but Marian would get it right back. MSOE would even it up at 3-3 with an early final period goal, but the Sabres goals came at them too fast to stay even or take the lead. The Raiders have now gone 0-4-2 in the first month of the new year and fall further behind in the NCHA South with the three-goal loss.
