Box Score AURORA, Ill. – Heading into the last weekend of the year, all MSOE can do is play spoiler and prevent the (RV) Aurora Spartans from moving up one rung in the Harris Cup playoff seeding. Unfortunately, their first try wasn't what they imagined as the Red & White were blanked for the first time this season in a three goal loss.
RESULTS
MSOE – 0
(RV) Aurora – 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (8-10-6, 3-10-6 NCHA) took plenty of shots against (RV) Aurora (12-6-6, 8-5-6 NCHA) but none of them found their way between the pipes against one of, if not the best, goaltender in the conference. Josh Boyko stopped all 30 shots that the Red & White sent his way, leading to the first time that the Raiders have been shutout all season. MSOE was active in each period though, taking 11 shots in the first and second while dipping slightly with eight in the third. Meanwhile, the Spartans were a single shot better in that category with three of theirs finding their way into the Raiders net. After a scoreless first period, AU tallied two in the second, with one of them crossing the goal line while being a man up. MSOE would keep the Spartans off the board for most of the third, but the final score of the game came at 18:08 as Aurora buried the puck in the empty Raiders net. Aurora won 31 of the 57 faceoffs in their 3-0 win over the good guys on Friday night.
