Box Score BEVERLY, Mass. – MSOE volleyball was right back at it on Friday evening, taking on yet another team in the shadows of Boston. This time it was No. 9 Endicott who got the better of the Raiders at the most opportune times to propel them to the straight set victory over the Red & White.
RESULTS
No. 12 MSOE – 0 (23, 22, 23)
No. 9 Endicott – 3 (25, 25, 25)
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (8-4, 0-0 NACC) played extremely well this evening against No. 9 Endicott, hitting .317 as a team and committing just ten errors in the three sets played. In fact, most of the numbers in the contest were dead even or close to it. Each team had 36 kills, the Gulls had only two more service aces, the Raiders had one more block than their opponent, and the team points were just 0.5 apart. So why were the Red & White the ones that were on the losing end of this extremely close battle? Unfortunately, the Raiders were just at the wrong end of the battles towards the tail end in each set. MSOE was down 21-20 in the first before the Gulls scored the last four of seven points, trailed 22-20 when Endicott scored the last three of five, and saw themselves on the losing end 21-20 again before their opponent scored the last four of seven once more. None of those were huge runs, which tells you just how tight the two teams played each other. Austyn Bella led the team with a .400 hitting percentage (minimum 15 attempts) and each starter registered at least two kills in the losing effort.
