Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Having split the first two games of their Boston road trip, MSOE men's volleyball was looking to come back home on the positive side of a .500 record in their three-game swing. Unfortunately, MIT had their number as the Engineers win three straight sets after the Raiders took the first in a battle of top 15 teams on Saturday afternoon.
RESULTS
No. 12 MSOE – 1 (25, 15, 21, 21)
No. 15 MIT – 3 (16, 25, 25, 25)
HOW IT HAPPENED
No. 12 MSOE (8-5) was unstoppable in the first set against No. 15 MIT (17-4), hitting .560 with 17 kills in the Raiders initial 25-16 victory. Already up 1-0, the Raiders were looking to take set two to hopefully close things out in three. However, in a complete 180, the Red & White hit -.257 and committed 14 errors to fall 25-15. Things improved in the third and fourth sets, but the Engineers were always one step ahead of them. MIT took each set by the score of 25-21 to close out the match in four and hand the Raiders their second loss in as many days. MSOE hit .140 overall, but issues with the service game once again thwarted any comeback hopes even though they led MIT in most of the major statistical categories.
