Box Score MEQUON, Wis. – After opening up the season with a 3-2 win over the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons last night, MSOE Hockey wanted to make sure they got the clean sweep when they squared off against CUW once again this evening. While that outcome did not look all too likely early on in the contest, the Raiders quickly turned things around and put away the Falcons handily to sweep the season series and retain control of the Lake Michigan Cup.
RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 7
Concordia Wisconsin – 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
Things did not get off to a great start for MSOE (2-0-0, 0-0-0 NCHA South) to begin play. The Raiders allowed two Concordia Wisconsin (0-4-0, 0-0-0 NCHA North) goals, one of which coming on the power play, within the first ten minutes of action as the Falcons looked primed to avenge their loss from 24 hours prior. The Red & White clearly thought otherwise. The Falcons had no chance of retaining the coveted Lake Michigan Cup in tonight's chippy contest once the goals started to pile up at the back of the net for MSOE. The good guys would go on to rattle off seven straight unanswered goals starting with CJ Kline and Stian Owens who tied things up for the Raiders in the first period before Kyle Herbster added the third tally in the second. David Marabella was next to be in on the action with back-to-back goals less than ten minutes apart to give the Red & White the three-goal advantage. Brandon Turer and Spence Van Tiem rounded out the scoring as the Raiders easily skate to victory 7-2.
