Raiders Cage Falcons For Fourth Time This Season

Box Score

MEQUON, Wis. – Beating a team twice in one season is hard. Three times is extremely tough. But four times? Well, however hard winning that many games against one opponent is, it certainly did not faze the MSOE hockey team. The Raiders traveled to Mequon and took care of business this evening with another one goal victory against the Falcons of Concordia Wisconsin.

FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
Concordia Wisconsin – 2

HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (6-5-0, 1-4-0 NCHA South) and Concordia Wisconsin (4-9-0, 3-1-0 NCHA North) have gotten to know each other quite well this year, with tonight proving that each team knows the others tricks. The Falcons were quick on the draw and scored the game's first goal just 4:20 into the initial period. However, the Raiders were even quicker to return the favor. Kyle Herbster buried a pass from Jeff Makowski and Garrett Gintoli just 37 seconds later to tie the game at one. Almost the same exact thing happened in the second frame. CUW once again scored first but the Red & White answered back just over a minute later to tie the game once more, this time with Kevin Paganini continuing his hot streak with helpers from David Marabella and Nigel Nelson. We headed into the third knotted up at two, but the Raiders got the last laugh once again. Gintoli and Makowski set up Herbster with another goal, this time of the game winning variety, to seal the deal and give MSOE their second win in three games and their fourth in four tries against CUW overall.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • Congratulations goes out to Nick Stofcheck who earned the first win of his career in his first ever start. The freshman certainly earned it by stopping 40 of the 42 shots that came his way.
