Box Score MILWAUKEE – Overtime and MSOE hockey have been going hand in hand as of late, with an extra frame needed in three of their last four games. However, this afternoon's contest could not be settled in those five short minutes. Still, it was the Raiders that came away with the 1-0 win in the shootout to take the extra point in a game that will go down as a tie against the Trine Thunder.
FINAL SCORE IN OVERTIME
Trine – 2
MSOE – 2
MSOE wins shootout 1-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
This afternoon's game was truly a tale of two different offensive performances. MSOE (6-5-1, 1-4-1 NCHA South) sent 42 shots on net while Trine (3-6-1, 1-2-1 NCHA South) ended up with just 19 that Logan Halladay's way. The disparity in shots did not matter though as each team netted two goals in regulation time. The Raiders scored the initial two tallies of the game, the first coming from Brandon Turer in the opening period with help from Garrett Gintoli and CJ Kline before Stian Owens helped out Matt Hanewall in the second. The Thunder would score the final two, including one when they left their net unattended to tie the game late and sent it into overtime. The extra five-minute period was quiet, so we headed to a shootout. Garrett Gintoli was up first and converted on his attempt which was all the Raiders needed. No one else was able to put their shot past the opposing netminder as the Raiders get the extra point in a 2-2 tie.
RAIDER REMARKS
- Garrett Gintoli still leads the Raiders in points with 14, just five off his production from last year in 12 fewer contests.
