Raiders On Wrong Side Of High Scoring Affair

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – Coming off a shutout win against Marian on Wednesday night, MSOE men's hockey was looking to make it two in a row when they welcomed (RV) Trine to the Kern Center. Unfortunately, a Raiders comeback after a big first period from the Thunder fell just short in their two goal loss on Friday night.

FINAL SCORE
(RV) Trine – 6
MSOE RAIDERS – 4

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • MSOE (4-8-2, 2-5-1 NCHA) could have easily rolled over after a first period in which (RV) Trine (14-4-0, 8-3-0 NCHA) scored four unanswered goals after the Raiders opened the game with a David Marabella power play strike at 3:06. That certainly wasn't what happened though.
  • Each team traded goals in the second, with the Red & White's tally coming from Ryan Vlaisavljevich off a Preston Park pass.
  • The third period is where things got really interesting, however. The Raiders took advantage of their extra man opportunities when Garrett Gintoli and Marabella both scored on the power play to bring MSOE within one.
  • The Raiders brought goalie Darius Bell to the bench with about two and a half minutes left which led to several good scoring chances in the closing minutes of the contest. Unfortunately, the Thunder sealed the deal with an empty net goal to send the Red & White to the locker room with a 6-4 loss.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • The loss tonight swings the all-time series record towards Trine. The Thunder now lead 4-3-2.
  • With two goals and one assist, David Marabella registered his first three-point game of his career.
