TOLEDO, Ohio – New Year, new venue. MSOE men's hockey headed east and opened up the 2022 portion of their schedule with the rare treat of a game outside against NCHA foe Adrian College. The Raiders gave AC a run for their money but the top ranked Bulldogs had just enough offensive power to down the Red & White by two at the Toledo Walleye Winterfest held at Fifth Third Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• MSOE (3-7-2, 1-4-1 NCHA) got the jump on No. 1 Adrian (12-1-0, 6-0-0 NCHA) in the outdoor battle when Matt Hanewall scored on the powerplay just 5:25 into the contest. The Bulldogs would even things up with an extra man goal of their own however as the first period ended tied at 1-1.
• The Raiders once again got a special teams tally to start off the second when Christian Sabin buried a Preston Park pass to regain the lead. That advantage was short lived however as the Bulldogs scored three unanswered to take a 4-1 lead after 40.
• The Red & White opened up the scoring in a third straight period to pull within one but Adrian put the comeback hopes to rest with an empty net goal with just six seconds left as MSOE fell 5-3.
